Details of Project Successes/Challenges:

This historic landmark, built as a WPA project in the early 1930’s, was in need of comprehensive exterior restoration. The first phase of the project consisted of complete masonry repointing, limited unit replacement and stone patching, sealant joint replacement and full surface cleaning. The second phase will accomplish full replacement of original steel windows with new, energy-efficient aluminum windows. Work also includes incidental interior repairs and modifications as necessitated by the window replacements.

Since this is a designated historic building, a review by SHPO (State Historical Preservation Office) was needed prior to bidding; our balanced approach to mimic the profile and sizes of original windows was found to be acceptable for preservation.

Site visits by STR-SEG personnel, with close-up quality assurance review of completed work, were performed on each elevation prior to staging being moved.
